This simulation is set at Euston, the London terminus of the former London and North Western Railway. Euston is the terminus of the electrified main line to Birmingham, Crewe and the north-west, continuing to Glasgow, and is seen at a busy period on a Thursday in summer 1987. You have to direct all the trains in and out, selecting platforms to avoid delays and minimise congestion; you also have to allocate appropriate motive power to each loco-hauled service.
Euston has probably more locomotive movements than any other terminus in the country, and your task will not be simple. In particular, you will have to plan how to use the available platforms to avoid conflicts between arrivals and departures, and adjustments will be needed when arrivals are running late. The timetable is nearly (but not quite) a regular-interval one, and with practice you will find that regular use of particular platforms departing at set times past the hour will often simplify your task.
