Before electrification, manage this busy terminus on a summer Saturday. Through trains to and from Yarmouth all need a change of engine, and these and the terminating London trains compete for limited platform space with local services on the coast lines and from the Ely direction, as well as through holiday trains from the Midlands to Yarmouth.

This simulation is set at Norwich, the terminus for the lines from Liverpool Street, Ely and Norfolk coast towns. Norwich Victoria and City stations have long since been closed, and all that remains is the former Great Eastern station, Norwich Thorpe.
At the time of this simulation most services to and from London Liverpool Street were operated by class 47/4 locomotives based at Stratford depot in London; these locos were instantly recognisable by having silver roofs. There were also loco-hauled trains from Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle which were bound for Great Yarmout on the east coast.
Local services to Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Sheringham and Cromer are DMUs; there was also a frequent DMU service to Ely and Cambridge.
The station is seen on a summer Saturday in 1982. There was little freight running in East Anglia on Saturdays; just one departmental train may run depending on the traffic available. You have to direct all the trains in and out, selecting platforms to avoid delays and minimise congestion. You will have to plan how to use the available platforms to avoid conflicts between arrivals and departures, and adjustments will be needed when arrivals are running late.
